I have been an NCT Antenatal teacher since 2010 and happily teach all over the UK as well as within my own local area.
Based on the South Wiltshire / Dorset / New Forest borders; I am happy to travel to bring my expert, calm and supportive help to your new family.
As an NCT and private Antenatal Teacher and Birth and Postnatal Doula with a special interest in pregnancy, labour and early parenthood, I started my journey after my own hugely successful and supportive NCT class when I was pregnant with my first child. The friendship, network and information was invaluable and with two sons I am still in close touch with those initial friends made over 10 years ago.
Having trained with Nurturing Birth in 2014, I am a mentored member of Doula UK, the only not-for-profit association of doulas in the UK.
I will support you in your feeding method of choice. I breastfed my 2 children and have experience of bottle feeding.
As part of my Continued Professional Development (CPD) I regularly read professional Midwifery journals and publications as well as attending conferences, study days and open forums to enhance my knowledge, keep current with research and meet like-minded passionate peer groups.
I like to actively increase my knowledge around feeding and have completed my Mum2Mum Breastfeeding Peer Support Open College Network Training which allows me to run local breastfeeding groups and work on the local postnatal ward reaching more mums at a critical early stage of breastfeeding newborn and young babies.
By teaching regularly I offer a wealth of experiences, advice as well as having a large address book of helpful groups, professionals and previous clients who I can put you in touch with.
I believe it is essential to be up-to-date with medical guidelines and I like to regularly attend conferences, courses, workshops and CPD days to enhance my skills.
Recent study days have included:
Birth Physiology (Michel Odent)
Breech Skills (Joy Horner, Shawn Walker)
Care of the Labouring Woman (Lesley Shuttler)
